Nose Reshaping
The nose constitutes a central third of the face. As such, it is the focal point for others during conversation. An attractive nose looks natural and achieves a harmonious balance with the other facial features. Plastic surgery on the nose or rhinoplasty can alter the shape, size and overall appearance of the nose. People in all age groups can get a rhinoplasty. Doctors recommend that young people wait until their facial growth is complete--until about age 13 or 14 for girls and 14 or 15 for boys. Rhinoplasty corrects the following: a nose that is too large for the face; a bump or depression on the nasal bridge when viewed in profile; the nose seems too wide when viewed from the front; the nasal tip droops or plunges; the tip is thick or enlarged; the nostrils are excessively flared or wide; the nose is off-center or crooked; a previous surgery or trauma makes the nose asymmetrical or unbalanced; or the nose obstructs an airway and impairs breathing. To enhance results, may consider improving the facial balance with concurrent procedures. A facial rejuvenation procedure augments the results of a rhinoplasty. The size and projection of the chin have remarkable influence on the appearance of the entire face, especially the nose. A chin implant can enhance the chin and make the nose look smaller. In contrast, procedures that make an excessively large chin smaller can also make the nose seem more proportional.
